Be a Mentor: Are you interested in becoming a volunteer mentor?

The mentor's role and responsibilities are to share his/her experience and provide fellowship and reassurance.

The mentor must protect the privacy of the individual being mentored.

The mentor will encourage the patient, caregiver and family member to seek professional input from the transplant team Ñ co-ordinators, social workers and physicians Ñ when appropriate and work within the referral system.

Recipients and patients on waiting lists may be taking many medications. While many of us may be on the same medications, the prescription is based on individual needs. Discussions on medications is discouraged and should be referred to transplant co-ordinators and physicians.

Mentors are carefully selected by the co-ordinators and/or social workers.
